About the Event

Join us for a REACH Seminar with Alan Simmons, PhD, professor at UCSD and research scientist at the San Diego VA. Dr. Simmons' work focuses on anxiety, PTSD, depression, pain, and other psychiatric conditions through neuroscience and brain imaging.

Friday, February 21st from 2:00-3:00 PST via Zoom (details will be provided upon registration)

Presentation Title: “An interoceptive model for the interaction of pain and PTSD”

The talk will present a model for how anticipation of interoceptive state provides a similar model for pain and PTSD that facilitates the interaction of these two often comorbid conditions. The evidence for this model will be explored including brain imaging data as well as the implications of this work towards concepts of precision medicine.
